Slowly, slowly (not my favorite word)

Hi Everyone!

As Steve mentioned, things are getting better everyday. I am, (of course because it's me), a bit frustrated with how slow I need to go, but Steve reminds me everyday of the 'cheering' and 'amazement' by the hospital staff at the fact that I even woke up. Baby steps.

I continue to be touched everyday by the thoughtfullness and love that is sent our way. The cards, flowers, phone calls, blog posts, emails, prayer groups, text messages, visits, food, rides for my children- we are all touched at the outpouring of love and friendship. The Hiseys are a very lucky family! :)

It has been good to be at Trent's games, even if it's only for a portion, to see the team, to cheer them on and to let them know that , as 10 and 11 year old boys, they certainly don't need to worry about me! Although I have become a quiet cheerleader (which is hard for me to do!), the other parents have been yelling on my behalf. Jackson and his friend were so incredibly cute last game- they would yell the "Let's go Trent, Let's go" and I would clap. Teamwork at its best!

And I am am getting a lot of enjoyment over everyones amazement at Steve's writing abilities. I am going to credit his talent to the fact that , when we were dating and he was in far away places like Washington and Wisconsin for baseball, we wrote letters back and forth. It's embarrasing to say that, 'back then' we didn't have cell phones, email or text messaging! And it was way too expensive to call long distance...given the salaries each of us was making. He's just kept that talent hidden for the last 20+ years.... :)

Mother's Day was uniquely special. My mom, who has been the pillar of strength since the day this happened, was able to celebrate with FrenchToast for breakfast. I was REALLY sad to see her go, but had selfishly kept her here for 2 weeks and it was time to share her with my Dad. :) And she'll be back again soon. The touching , heartfelt cards from my kids and Steve were fantastic! It was a quiet, loving day.

Finally, before I blubber on too long, I just want to again thank you all for your support...I do believe that is what is keeping all of us going. God bless! Jill

  1. WOW, Jill, you're already making trips to the grocery store and Trent's games? Incredible! You really are an amazing person! I've been keeping up with Steve's blog and I'm also touched by his honesty and writing talent. Most of all, I'm touched by your incredible, loving, supportive relationship, which gives me hope that I'll find the same someday. You and Steve make a wonderful team, and the love you share comes through in your posts about each other. It's pretty inspiring. I have no doubt that your will to be there for your adorable family is motivating you every day. My prayers and love are with you and your family. Thinking of you often, Tracy Mlakar

  2. Dear Jill,

Praise God that I am able to address you personally and with confidence that YOU will read this message with YOUR own eyes and reply with YOUR own hands.

Johnny and I have both shared moments with you at Trent's games (our son plays for the Phillies) and have been following your recovery with renewed faith that God's healing powers is beyond explanation and comprehension.

We rejoice with your family and friends at the fact that you are a testament to God's goodness and we celebrate your strength and your family's courage to brave through the past weeks.

We continue to bless you and yours, and shower you with prayer and good thoughts. Hugs to you and Steve, and the children, as you live, love and laugh through each day!

    See you out at Windsor.

Jennie, Johnny, Micah & Jonah Tang.

  3. Hi Jill,
I am so glad to hear that your recovery is going well, if slowly. I was talking to a couple at church, they are a retired cardiac eletrophysiologist and a retired cardiac nurse. It sounds like you were lucky to have the coolin procedure available, they said they have seen so much success using it where they came from in Texas. So what a blessing that it was newly available at your hospital. Your experience has certainly been a wakeup call for me...life really is precious. I am enjoying reading Steve's comments as well...he is incredibly thorough! Many wishes and prayers for continued healing and patience!

  5. Another great blog entry, J.D. The guys out here like it when the pretty girl gets to write once in awhile. Frankly, I'm getting a little jealous of Steve's fan club - he thinks he's the David Cassidy of blogging all of a sudden.... :)

  6. Hi Jill,
Go slowly, no need to rush anything. Let your body tell you what it's ready to do (or not do). I told Myron about your progress, he said that was GREAT...and then after thinking for a moment he squinted his eyes, shook his head and said, "I didn't like that contractor Jill had for her remodel." Ah, perspective!

    Best from the Cullen Klan!

  7. Hey Jill,
Great to hear from you again! So happy you made it to some games and take it easy at the grocery store. :) I though of you on Mother's Day with a big smile knowing you were celebrating with your family and your Mom. It was great to see your Mom - she is wonderful!

Slow and steady won the race or at least I think that is the saying...you know what I mean. Hang in there and allow time for your body to heal. Look forward to seeing you in person soon, however in the meantime when I read your writing I can hear your voice through the written words.

    Cheers,
    Kelly
